Another Hawaii Sunset at Ko Olina

Another Hawaii Sunset at Ko Olina

Burnsland
The sun sets behind palm trees at Ko Olina Lagoons on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our 2023 Hawaiʻi trip. It is another month, which means another Hawaiʻi sunset photo. Maybe I have not been posting one a month, but it feels like it.1 Maybe it will become a regular thing, or maybe not. I have wondered before about sunsets looking better over water.2 I still believe that they do, even with our interesting sunsets here at home from time to time.
Beach Sunset in Hawaii

Beach Sunset in Hawaii

Burnsland
The sun sets over the Ko Olina Lagoons near the Disney resort of Aulani on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi during our 2023 Hawaiʻi Trip. When I was compiling photos for the trip report, I purposefully left out some of the sunset photos that I had taken. If you have already read the report, you know that there were lots of sunset photos in the report. But I took lots more photos than I could include in the report, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of them from time to time, because the photos can definitely stand on their own.
Waikolohe Valley at Aulani in Hawaii

Waikolohe Valley at Aulani in Hawaii

Burnsland
A rock formation rises in the distance as a stream flows through the Waikolohe Valley at the Disney resort of Aulani in Hawaiʻi. Actually, the Waikolohe Valley is the name of the pool area in between the two Aulani towers. If you know Disney, you know they have a name and a backstory for everything instead of just “pool area”. So the mountain off to the side is known as Puʻu Kilo, the stream (a lazy river tube ride) is Waikolohe Stream, and the main pool (that is not visible here) is the Waikolohe Pool.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 9 - Waikiki

Burnsland
The Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues with us exploring the Waikīkī area before attempting to start for home. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 For one last time, we followed our morning routine of getting up at 7:00 and eating breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. We finished off all that we could of what we had bought for breakfast, which meant an extra glass of pineapple cranberry juice for me.
Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 8 - Diamond Head

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 8 - Diamond Head

Burnsland
The Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues with a hike up Diamond Head and another great sunset. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 As was our custom by this point, we started off the day much like every other day. Up at 7:00 AM, breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. It had been a good routine. But beyond that, things were starting to change.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 7 - The North Shore

Burnsland
The Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues with a visit to a North Shore beach and some night photos. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Monday, June 19, 2023 By now, if you have been reading the trip report, you know our usual routine. This day started like the others. No complaints at all. Great company, great scenery, a great place.

Sunset on the Beach near Aulani in Hawaii

Burnsland
The sun sets past the lagoon and ocean near the Disney resort of Aulani on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, as seen during our June 2023 visit. As you may know from reading the trip report, we went for a walk just about every evening that we were there. Part of that was to work off some of the calories we had eaten (do vacation calories even count?), part of that was to unwind from the day (not that we were stressed, but it is always good to relax at the end of the day), and part of that was to enjoy the beautiful scenery and sunsets.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 6 - A Lighthouse

Burnsland
As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we drive through the mountains to church and then hike to a lighthouse. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Sunday, June 18, 2023 Once again, we followed our usual routine of getting up at 7:00 AM and eating breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony. We are definitely creatures of habit. No complaints from any of us about that.

Hawaii 2023 Trip Report Part 5 - Waterfall and Luau

Burnsland
As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we hike to a waterfall and go to a lūʻau. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Saturday, June 17, 2023 Once again we were up at 7:00 (or soon after - there is a snooze button for a reason, after all) for what had quickly become our morning routine. Showers, breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony, enjoying the scenery while avoiding the sun as much as possible.
Hawaii 2023 Part 4 - Morning at the Beach

Hawaii 2023 Part 4 - Morning at the Beach

Burnsland
As our Hawaiʻi trip in June 2023 continues, we go out searching and wind up at the beach. If you have not done so already, you might want to read the previous part. Friday, June 16, 2023 It does not take us long to settle into a routine. Just as with the previous day, my alarm started waking us up at 7:00 AM, and then after showering and such, we ate breakfast on the Riedels’ balcony.
