Thanksgiving for 2024

Thanksgiving week has arrived in the United States. The Thanksgiving holiday is this Thursday, and people all over will (hopefully) pause to think about all that they are thankful for. But that is something that we should all do all of the time, not just one day a year, because we have much to be thankful for.

The other day, Laura and I were talking about all of the things we are thankful for just from this year of 2024, and our list quickly got to be pretty long.

Just in this year alone, we have been to one foreign country, two United States National Parks, several state parks in a couple of different states, and some other places as well. And for each of those trips, the trip itself was not the only blessing, but also the people that we got to spend time with on the trips, whether it was our family, close friends, or church people. Part of the fun of trips is getting to go places, but a bigger part is who you get to go with. People are a great blessing to us.

Other blessings from the year included a successful skin cancer procedure (don’t forget to wear a hat), lots of time at home despite all those places we went, and Jaylin being gainfully employed.

Add to that all of the physical blessings, and the list just gets longer.

The danger comes in if I start to compare my list to others who have done more, or who have more. So do not compare your list to mine, either. Instead, just be thankful for what you have. If you start looking for something to complain about, you will find that rather easily, and that list might get long, too. But if you look for things to be thankful for, you can find lots of those as well. It all depends on your focus.

One More Photo

You might be wondering what the photo above has to do with being thankful. That was from our Panama trip. I was thankful for that experience, but I was also thankful that Laura got to go as well. That photo was taken before the Sunday morning worship service, at a photo place that had been set up for the previous day’s marriage seminar.

Here is another version from the same location:

And while the “Love” theme in this case was about loving your spouse, don’t forget to love one another and to be thankful for the love you receive, too.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

About the Photos

There is nothing fancy at all about these photos. They were taken with my iPhone. I did not even do any sort of processing for them. Sometimes simple is the best.
