Serenity Bay Beach and Spring Thoughts
At the Beach
It looks like a beautiful day at Serenity Bay Beach on Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line’s Bahamas island.
No, we are not at the beach right now, although that certainly does sound nice. This was a view from our 2022 Disney Cruise. Those were good times. But now is a good time, too. We can’t all always be on vacation, after all. Some stuff like work has to be done from time to time so that there can be more adventures in the future. Good things will come in time.
Happy Spring
Spring is springing out all over around here. I think we are close to the point where spring becomes the sneezin’ season. Fortunately, spring allergies do not bother me as much as they used to. But I do still sneeze from time to time during this season.
Spring started off just a bit cold. I remarked in the Spring Break Walk in the Park post that there never is warm weather during spring break. As it turns out, it actually got even colder after spring break. The first day of spring had low temperatures in the lower 20s here. It is like winter was trying to hold on just a little bit longer. Hopefully, that was its last gasp.
That was just a few days ago, but now we have some warmer days, accompanied by those March winds and a good bit of rain. Maybe the wind will eventually dry up the rain, but we still have a good bit of mud left in the horse pasture from the wet winter.
But anyway, spring is here, and that is good. And that means that summer vacations can’t be that far away, right? As you might guess from the photo above, I am looking forward to being back on a beach again this summer. It won’t be the same beach as what is pictured here, but there are new places out there to explore!
He gave me reason to sing a new song, praising our God. May many see what God has done, so that they might swear allegiance to him and trust in the Lord. - Psalm 40:3
About the Photo
Lately, I have been processing photos exclusively in Raw Therapee. I started out that way for this one, too. But I could not get the colors to look quite like I wanted them to.
So I took that file from Raw Therapee and loaded it in to the always reliable GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program. With it, I was able to get the photo to look more like I wanted it to.
I went with some heavily saturated colors here. Those colors coupled with some strong contrast almost give this photo an old postcard look. Nothing wrong with that at all.
