Our 30th Anniversary
These two kids got married 30 years ago today! Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife Laura.
Thirty years into the future seems like a long way off when you are just starting out. But it does not seem like that long ago when you look at it from this direction. We have had lots of fun adventures, and of course a few difficult times to work through together, too. But the good times have far, far outweighed the bad times. And for that, I am thankful.
Life is so much better, and easier, if you have someone to go through life with. I am very thankful for Laura, for her love and constant encouragement. And for her sense of fun. Life would be downright dull without her.
We did all of our big celebrating last month, so today is a rather low-key day. But that is okay, too, because I know that whatever we do, it will be fun.
And I am definitely looking forward to the next 30 years and beyond!

Update
After I posted this, I came up with another photo to share on social media. It proved to be quite popular, so I thought I would include it here as well:
The caption read, “30 years ago on the left, 30 days ago on the right.” That would have been from the actual date of our anniversary, of course. And if it is not obvious, I just put our wedding photo together with the photo from this post. It worked out perfectly once I realized the 30 day connection!

As you might guess, this was a photo from our Hawaiʻi trip, taken on the back patio of the Makaʻala at Aulani. Thanks to Karen for being our photographer for this photo. Why were we all dressed up? You can read about that in the trip report, when that part becomes available.
