Getting to a Beach in Panama
In the previous post of a beach in Panama, I mentioned that getting to the beach was an interesting story in itself. And so as not to keep you waiting any longer, here is that story.
We had arrived by van, and we parked at the edge of the fishing village. But that was as far as we could go by car. So we started walking.
First, we crossed a suspension bridge over a canal1. I personally like bridges like this one, although I know that some people do not like them at all. At least this one was not suspended that high over the canal down below. I like how bridges like this shake when you walk across them, although all that motion does make it a little difficult to get a clear photo.
We next walked across a plank bridge. Yes, just planks supported here and there over a wet area. I felt more like I might fall off of this one than off of the suspension bridge. And those posts at the left of the photo are supports for a new, more permanent bridge that they were building as we walked past.
After we stopped by Keni’s house and he joined us, we then walked along the beach for a bit, past the boats that were tied up and beached during the low tide conditions. And I am very thankful for those who carried chairs for us to sit in.
Making more progress, we passed some palm trees. Yes, those are the same palm trees that were in the first photo of the previous post.
We then reached our destination, which was the perfect place to sit on the beach and enjoy the view of God’s creation that was before us, while talking about his blessings and offering each other encouragement in our Christian walks.
And then after our time was complete, we walked back the same way that we came. Those clouds look rather threatening, don’t they? But the rain held off until later on, so that we stayed nice and dry during our time outside. Just one more blessing of our day.
As the old saying goes, sometimes the journey is every bit as fun as the destination. And while we have a goal in mind, getting to that goal can be just as rewarding as the goal itself.
In our goal of loving one another, we should spend as much time focusing on the journey as we spend focused on the end goal, because learning to love is a lifelong journey where we never reach the final goal. But what we do along the way is very important, especially to those who are around us as we go. The journey might not end until we end, but it is definitely a journey worth taking.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. - 1 John 4:7-8 ESV

About the Photos
These photos, and the photos in the previous post, did not take all that much work, because they looked great to begin with. Just a little increased color saturation and contrast for some of them, and evening out some highlights and shadows. But otherwise, everything was good right from the camera.

It was a canal in Panama, but not THE canal in Panama. I guess they have more than one. ↩︎
