Hail Storm After the Eclipse

Hail Storm After the Eclipse

Burnsland
Who knew that the 2024 Eclipse would not be the only extreme weather event of the day? After the eclipse ended, the clouds of the morning returned, and those clouds eventually brought with them a strong thunderstorm that included lots of hail at our house. Take a look: All that white stuff in the grass is hail. Lots and lots of hail. In the past when we have had any hail, it has just been small bits for only 30 seconds maximum.
The 2024 Solar Eclipse

The 2024 Solar Eclipse

I don’t know if you heard, but we had a solar eclipse here in the United States in April 2024. If you are in the United States, I do not know how you could NOT have heard about it, because it was everywhere, especially if you were within a hundred miles or so of the path of totality as we were. I had resolved not to try to take any photos of the eclipse, knowing that they would look very similar to the photos from the 2017 eclipse (spoiler alert - it looked just about exactly the same, except the sun was slightly more covered)
January 2024 Snow

January 2024 Snow

On January 14 and 15, 2024, we got some snow. Lots of snow, actually. I took some preliminary measurements while the snow was still falling, but I never did go back and do a final measurement, but I would guess that we got around 5 to 6 inches of snow. And then we had some really cold weather after the snow, so that the snow has stayed on the ground for several days.
Fall Colors 2023

Fall Colors 2023

Recently, the trees in our yard were changing to their autumn colors for the fall season, and so on a nice, sunny day I went out to get a few photos. Take a look! This pear tree still had some green leaves left toward the inside, but the outer leaves were bright red. Add in a perfect blue sky and you have quite a colorful photo! Speaking of colorful, these trees behind the horse pasture fence were putting on a colorful show, too.
A Sunset Walk Is an Adventure

A Sunset Walk Is an Adventure

The other night, we went for a walk as the sun was setting, and it was an adventure. I did not have my camera with me, but I did have my phone. So here are some photos from our evening. Sunset Views Even before we had started walking, as I was still tying my shoes, Laura said, “Look at the sky!” And when I turned around after making sure my shoes were double-knotted (can’t have them coming untied while we walk, after all), the above was what I saw.

Welcome to Adventures by Burnsland

Burnsland
Welcome to Adventures by Burnsland! This new site is an extension of the original Burnsland.com site. Here you will find photos and stories of our new adventures, as well as some memories from our previous adventures, too. Why the change? There are several reasons for this change. One reason is site speed. The old Burnsland site was created with Wordpress. Wordpress is great for a lot of things, but for me it had become a bit much.
